Totus Tuus Summer Camp

St. Joseph the Worker Parish is pleased to be offering a Catholic summer program for youth that is being held at our parish in July 2019 called Totus Tuus (Latin for "totally yours").  This program will involve a day camp for students in Grades 1 to 6 (9:00 am to 2:30 pm) and an evening program for students in Grades 7 to 12 (7:00 pm to 9 pm).  Four fully-trained lay missionaries will be sent to the parish to facilitate the camp.

What is involved in the program?

The five pillars of the program are as follows: (1) the Eucharist, (2) Marian Devotion, (3) Catechetical Instruction, (4) Vocational Discernment and (5) Fun!  The day camp will also have daily Mass before lunch, while the evening program will include confessions and Eucharistic Adoration.

When is the program being held?

The day camp for Grades 1 to 6 will run from Mon. July 15 through Fri. July 19Fun and games will take place on Fri. July 19 for the bulk of the day.

The evening program for Grades 7 to 12 will run from Sun. July 14 (evening only) through Thurs. July 18.  For the evening group only, there will also be a potluck dinner on Wed. July 17 (5:00 pm to 6:30 pm), as well as a social on Thursday July 18 (7:00 pm to 9:30 pm).

Can my child take the program again if he/she took it last year?

Yes!  The camp operates under a six-year cycle which means that new material is presented each year.

How do I register?

Registration forms are available in the sacristy and parish office or complete the attached forms then submit to the parish office to reserve your spot.

What are the costs of registration?

Admission is $50 per child with a reduced fee of $25 per additional child from the same household.

Will my child be required to bring food to the program?

Children attending the day program (Gr. 1 to 6) will be asked to bring their own lunches and drinks; as well as a snack, if you wish.  There is no requirement to bring a meal for the evening program.

What kind of opportunities are available to assist with the program?

If you are interested in volunteering, please download and fill out a volunteer form online or at the parish office.  You will also be subject to mandatory volunteer screening.

Supervising and Assisting with Classes

We will require both adult and student volunteers (min. high school level) who can supervise the students; and assist with classes, where needed. We specifically need at least four adult volunteers (2+ adults at the day program and 1+ adults at the evening program) to be present at all times.

Hosting Lay Missionaries

We will also need host families to accommodate our lay missionaries from the evening of Sat. July 13 through Fri. July 19.  Host families are responsible for giving the lay missionaries a light breakfast at 7:30 am each day.  The male and female missionaries will sleep at separate homes, but the two men or the two women cannot be split up.

Providing Dinner for Lay Missionaries

Apart from the host families, we will also need parish families to assist in providing dinner for the lay missionaries during the course of the week.  Ideally, we will have a different parish family for each day.  The parish itself will provide lunch for the lay missionaries on site each day.

How do I get further information about the program?
