This spring, students from the university and college campus ministries across the Archdiocese of Toronto gathered to mark an important milestone – their graduation.

On Sunday, May 4, Auxiliary Bishop John Boissonneau celebrated Mass at St. Paul’s Basilica for the students and their families and friends. The Mass was the perfect way to give thanks to God for the many blessings these young adults have received through being involved in campus ministry.

Following the Mass, everyone enjoyed a reception in the parish hall. Each graduate was honoured for his or her commitment to campus ministry with a small gift, and students offered testimonies about the profound impact of campus ministry on their lives and their faith journey.

Campus ministry alumnus Ismael Hashim (Catholic Chaplaincy at York, Class of 2019) shared valuable insights with the graduates about keeping their faith strong as they move into new environments after their years in school. Ismael encouraged them to stay connected to their chaplaincy and look for opportunities to use their gifts to give back to others. It was a fitting and relevant message to end the celebration, as these young adults move on, ready to use what they learned and experienced in campus ministry to contribute to the Church and to society.
