Altar Servers

The primary role of the altar server is to assist the Priest in the celebration of the Mass. It is a great privilege to serve at the altar, therefore servers have a solemn responsibility to do their assigned duties with dignity and reverence. Altar servers also model good liturgical participation. To become an altar server is a commitment and an honour. All people of good faith who have had their First Communion and desire to serve are encouraged to serve.

Children of the Eucharist

The Children of the Eucharist program engages boys from Kindergarten to grade 2 and girls from Kindergarten to grade 8. This program seeks to actively involve children in the Liturgy while teaching them participation, reverence, and devotion to ultimately instill enthusiasm in children of a variety of ages.

Various roles are tailored to each age group. Younger children serve as bell ringers during the consecration. Children in grade 2 serve as offertory presenters. Older girls serve as Daughters of Mary to deliver the prayers of the faithful. The functions and activities of each group are integrated and provide close interaction between children of different ages, parents, organizers, priests, and the worship community. Children of the Eucharist serve at the 9:00am Sunday Mass.

Children's Liturgy

Children's Liturgy at St. Joseph the Worker Parish is available to children from Kindergarten to Grade 2 who have not yet made their First Communion. Our program runs in conjunction with the Liturgical Readings of each Mass.

Parents are asked to bring their children to the Parish Hall prior to the 9:00 a.m. Sunday mass. Children will be returned to their parents, who should be seated in the reserved section of the church, before the Gospel reading.
